Dr. Natalie Sarachaga-Barato is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in South Florida. She is a first generation Cuban-American who had to navigate, personally and professionally, through the challenges of two different cultures. After graduating with her first Masters degree and working as a Child Protective Investigator, she had to learn the commonly shared and difficult lessons of work-life balance. She also came to the realization that much of life is not in our control and therefore we need to simplify our lives and quiet our anxieties by focusing on what is in our control. These lessons were constantly reinforced during different periods of her life which included: leading the opening, managing, and closing of a corporate office; having children; working in the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office; pursuing and graduating with her doctorate; establishing her private practice, and seeking services and support for her oldest child who
was diagnosed with Autism. All these responsibilities, endeavors, accomplishments, titles and accompanying life lessons have made a profound influence on her journey and growth. She understands that we are all people just trying to figure out life and how to treat ourselves and others.
An attorney by profession, Jeb Niewood has also been an extremely active community volunteer. In that role, Jeb has provided numerous innovative programs and founded charities for under-served populations for more than twenty years. His early emphasis was on bridging the divide between
neuro-diverse and neuro-typical children and young adults and their families. In this regard he set up two charities. The first providing year-round sports programs and the second providing year-round cultural programs. In each program, kids with special needs were matched one to one with neuro-typical student volunteers. These programs were held in the cities of Parkland and Coral Springs, Florida but has served thousands of kids who came to these programs from Miami to Wellington. During this time and having been awarded a grant on behalf of his charity, Jeb worked with the internationally recognized landscape architecture firm, EDSA, and designed the nation’s first all-inclusive community park. This design is available to any city that would like to build it. For this work, Jeb’s charities and programs have been recognized in People Magazine, Sports Illustrated Kids, local NBC and ABC affiliates, other print media and government and private organizations. In addition, Jeb has been a featured speaker at many governmental and private sector events.
However, all of this changed on February 14, 2018. On that date a mass shooting took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland where 17 children and faculty were killed and another 17 children were grievously wounded. Among the children killed were two 14-year-old student volunteers for one of Jeb’s charities. Within a year of this unspeakable loss and the death by suicide of three Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, Jeb, a 22 year resident of Parkland, joined the effort to de-stigmatize mental illness and to promote mental wellness in the same way that society promotes physical wellness. This issue was personal to Jeb as mental illness has affected both himself and members of his family. In this endeavor Jeb served as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a local grassroots charity. Ultimately, Jeb felt that this subject and discussion could be best served by starting a podcast with an exceptionally learned and gifted clinical psychologist, Dr. Natalie Sarachaga-Barato.

Imagine sitting at your kitchen table having a relaxing talk about what's happening in your life. Except in this discussion there are no subjects that are out of bounds. In this discussion we explore subjects, experiences, relationships and feelings that affect our mental and physical health. In this discussion we treat mental health conditions and illnesses in the same way we treat physical health conditions and illnesses. Through discussion we want to remove the stigma that has always been attached to mental illness. We will do this in a variety of ways including humor and love which are two powerful
non-medical therapeutics.
That's what our podcast is about and we look forward to having you join us.
Dr. Natalie And Jeb
We are building a community where it's okay not to be okay and where it's comfortable to be uncomfortable. Life is stressful and we are all going through struggles that no one knows anything about. That's why we're here. That's why we do what we do. You are not alone.
